Zainal Abidin Achmad. He graduated bachelor's degree in Communication Science, Universitas Airlangga (1998) then graduated with his first master's degree in Social Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (2001). He graduated second master's degree in Bilingual Education, Rangsit University Thailand (2006), and graduated with a doctoral degree in Social Sciences, Universitas Airlangga (2020). He has experience teaching press journalism, mass media law, sociology of communication, media relations, and qualitative research methods. He has work experience in various advocacy and community development activities with various Ministries, domestic and foreign NGOs, and world bodies (Ministry of Infrastructure; BAPPENAS; Ministry of Politics, Law, and Security; Ministry of Home Affairs; Ministry of Religion; LP3ES, The Asia Foundation, World Bank, USAID, AusAID, and UNDP). He has contributed to a series of opinion research and exit polls in elections and post-conflict local elections in Indonesia with LP3ES and the Reform Institute. He experienced as a Host and Co-Host of television talk show programs at Arek TV Surabaya and JTV Surabaya. Currently, he has consistently encouraged the utilization of the Indonesian Democracy Index in various districts and cities in East Java since joining the UNDP IDI-Project in 2011. The professional and social organizations he has been actively participating in include Alumni Association of Communication Science Universitas Airlangga, Indonesian Language Advisory Association (HPBI) Jawa Timur, Indonesian Communication Scholars Association (ISKI) Jawa Timur, Alumni Association of FISIP Universitas Airlangga, Alumni Association of LEMHANNAS Family of the Republic of Indonesia (IKAL) Jawa Timur.
