Professor Syed Mohd Rizwan serves as the Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies & Research at the College of Engineering, National University of Science and Technology in Oman. Previously, he led the Applied Mathematics and Science Department from October 2007 to September 2023. With three decades of experience in teaching and research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, his specialties include Applied Mathematics, Probability & Statistics, and Reliability and Availability Assessment. His research focuses on Reliability Engineering, Applied Probability, Stochastic Processes, and Engineering Systems Analysis. Professor Rizwan has contributed significantly to the field with 126 research papers in Journals/conferences, a book chapter in the Springer Series on Reliability Engineering of Industrial Systems, supervision of six PhD thesis, and numerous master’s dissertations in Reliability and Maintenance. He has held roles as Chief Editor and Associate Editor for various international journals and has been actively involved in numerous funded research projects in collaborations with INRA, France & Korea. Recognized globally, he received the GLOBAL ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD during the International Conference (ICIEM 2023) supported by IEEE - UK & Ireland Section & Springer (Digital Transformation, Emerging Technologies, and Sustainable Growth) held during May 9-10, 2023, at Amity University, London; and has been honored with multiple other awards, including the BEST PROFESSOR IN STATISTICS at the Oman Education Leadership Awards 2019 & DISTINGUISHED SCIENTIST AWARD IN STATISTICS by Venus International Research Award for extraordinary achievements and significant contributions in the field of academics & research bestowed by Centre for Advanced Research and Design, Venus International Research Foundation during Annual Research Meet on 11th November 2017.
