I am a 4rd year PhD candidate at National Chengchi University, where my research focuses primarily on migration. One of my recent achievements was successfully defending my proposal defense titled "Filipinos on Demand: Feminization of Migration in Taiwan". This research delves into the intricate relationship between the state and Filipino migrant workers, examining how the state plays a crucial role in the production of migrant labor through a gendered labor-brokering process. Through my dissertation, I argue that the state actively participates in constructing and idealizing Filipinos as global labor commodities. It promotes overseas employment as the most promising opportunity for Filipinos, emphasizing it as their best chance for economic advancement. By shedding light on these dynamics, I aim to contribute to understanding migration as a complex social phenomenon influenced by economic and socio- political factors. While migration remains my central research interest, I am also fascinated by non-traditional security issues and Austronesian studies.
